Abstract

The aim of the work: to determine the indications and to choose the method of surgical treatment of patients with recurrent varicose vein disease of the lower limbs.

Materials and Methods. 85 patients with recurrent varicose vein disease of the lower limbs after surgical interventions were examined.

Results and Discussion. Indications for repeated surgical interventions at recurrent varicose vein disease of lower limbs can be con­ditionally divided into social (relative) and medical (absolute). Relative indications were based on the patient’s desire to improve the aesthetic effect of the operation. The main goal of absolute indications was to stop the progression of trophic tissue disorders. With the elimination of direct joints between the subcutaneous and deep venous systems (saphenofemoral, saphenopopliteal, perforating veins), ligation of veins from the mini-accesses should be preferred. Contraindications for endovenous techniques were superficial location, crimp and large diameter (more than 1.0 cm) of varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is the method of choice for the elimination of reflux by a residual crimped recurrent vein with a diameter of up to 3 mm.
