Results and Discussion. The survey results showed the majority of respondents (72.9%) are aware that statins group are dispensed with a doctor’s prescription, while 27.1% of respondents buy them without a doctor’s prescription. The main sources of information about the medicinal properties of the statins group for most consumers are the doctor (54.1%) and the pharmacist (37.5%). Most pharmacy visitors take their statin drugs before bedtime (62.4%), but 10.5% do not follow a clear regimen. 43.7% of visitors do not fully understand the duration of therapy or believe that taking statins can be stopped after cholesterol levels normalize.
Conclusions. When dispensing statins from a pharmacy, conducting proper pharmaceutical care by pharmacist will help increase the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy.
