Abstract

The aim of the work is to analyze the use of therapeutic procedures and mineral waters within the health resort system of Truskavets to generalize and update scientific and practical data for optimizing pharmaceutical care for patients during the rehabilitation period.

Materials and Methods. Methods of information retrieval, analysis, comparison, generalization, systemic analysis, and interviewing were used. The research materials included scientific publications, regulatory and legal documents, as well as data from the websites of sanatoriums in the city of Truskavets and data on the consumption of mineral waters by patients of the Almaz and Krystal sanatoriums in 2018-2024, along with the results of interviews with physicians.

Results and Discussion. Truskavets hosts 20 sanatoriums, 9 of which have their own pump rooms, and utilizes 12 mineral waters with varying degrees of mineralization – from low-mineralized waters (Naftusia, Emma, Yuzia) to highly mineralized ones (Barbara, Bronislava, Ferdinand, Kateryna). According to their chemical composition, the waters belong to different types, which accounts for the wide range of indications for their use. Mineral waters are most commonly applied in the treatment of diseases of the digestive system, hepatobiliary and urinary systems, as well as disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Balneotherapy is the main type of therapeutic procedure and is used in all sanatoriums, alongside physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, ozokeritotherapy, oxygen therapy, and halotherapy. An analysis of the consumption of Naftusia, Maria, and Sofiia waters in the Almaz and Krystal sanatoriums in 2018-2024 showed the dominance of Naftusia water (over 1 million liters). According to the results of physician interviews, high efficacy of mineral waters and a minimal incidence of side effects were confirmed.

Conclusions. Issues of sanatorium-and-spa treatment in the city of Truskavets (20 sanatoriums) were examined. In particular, detailed analysis was conducted of information on mineral water springs (12 sources), sanatoriums (20 sanatoriums), and the mineral waters themselves (in terms of composition, indications, and methods of use), as well as the characteristics of their consumption by sanatoriums patients and their role in the therapeutic process and disease prevention. As a result of the analysis of the consumption of Naftusia, Maria, and Sofiia mineral waters by patients of the Krystal and Almaz sanatoriums in 2018–2024, it was established that Naftusia water was prescribed most frequently (1,172,023 liters), and the ratio of consumption of these waters was 26.1 : 12.21 : 1.
