The aim of the work – to study the effect of emulsifiers on some pharmaco-technological properties of a cosmetic product based on the phytosubstance of Siberian statice; to conduct biopharmaceutical studies of the produced emulsion creams.
Materials and Methods. The study was conducted on various series of cosmetic products in the form of emulsion cream based on the active ingredient of the phytosubstance of Siberian statice. 6 emulsifiers were selected for the study, 2 of which were used as mono-emulsifiers and 4 – in combination with co-emulsifiers. The emulsions were obtained by the hot emulsification method. The study of the properties of the emulsion was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine and DSTU (National Standards of Ukraine) 4765:2007 “Cosmetic creams”.
Results and Discussion. The influence of excipients, namely emulsifiers, on the pharmaco-technological properties of emulsion creams was studied. The organoleptic characteristics, pH, thermal stability and colloidal stability, and the homogeneity of the composition were investigated using microscopy. Studies were also conducted to determine the type of emulsion by staining. Based on the above studies, the best series were selected, for which biopharmaceutical studies were conducted.
Conclusions. The influence of emulsifiers on the pharmaco-technological properties of emulsion creams based on Siberian statice was analyzed. Based on the conducted studies, 5 series of the cosmetic product with satisfactory pharmacotechnological properties were selected, namely, cosmetics based on mono-emulsifiers Sepiplus-400, Montanov-68 and emulsifiers Montanov L, Planta M, Emulpharma, Easynov as co-emulsifiers. The selected series were subjected to biopharmaceutical analysis using the agar plate method, and the rate of release of the active substance from the cosmetic products was determined. It was established that series 1.1, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2 have good penetration of phenolic compounds into the agar gel. The series with such emulsifiers as Sepiplus-400, Montanov-68, which were used as mono-emulsifiers, performed best.
