The aim of the work is to develop informational support for pharmaceutical specialists using modern pharmaceutical informatics (PI) methods to analyze retrospective electronic prescription (EP) data from Ukraine's drug reimbursement program for outpatients with arterial hypertension (AH).
Materials and Methods. We analyzed EP data from 2019 – 2021, obtained from the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), using frequency, comparative, and logical analyses, along with statistical analysis (Ward's method) in IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 28).
Results and Discussion. Based on analytical methods, a set of variables was formed to characterize the effectiveness of the drug reimbursement program for treating outpatients with AH in Ukraine: indicators of prescribed and redeemed EP; the share of EPs for which profile drugs were dispensed; the total number of dispensed drugs for treating AH (according to defined daily doses (DDDs)); the total financial indicator of drug reimbursement costs.
A cluster analysis of regional processes in the implementation of the «Affordable Medicines» program from 2019 to 2021 was performed using Ward’s method on a historically formed set of 25 entities (24 regions and Kyiv city). The region that demonstrated a high level of implementation of the drug reimbursement program for treating AH from 2019 to 2021 was Dnipropetrovsk region.
Conclusions: A modern methodology of pharmaceutical informatics was implemented using the analysis of the «Affordable Medicines» program (2019 – 2021).
A clear regional correlation was established between the number of prescribed and dispensed e-prescriptions (EPs) for hypertension treatment and the share of reimbursed EPs, demonstrating strong integration of medical and pharmaceutical care.
Four regional clusters were identified based on EP indicators, defined daily doses (DDDs) of antihypertensive medicines, and reimbursement metrics, crucial for optimizing pharmaceutical care for hypertension patients.
