The history of the ORGANIZATION AND ECONOMICS OF PHARMACY DEPARTMENT OF THE DANYLO HALYTSKY LVIV NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY dates back to 1784, when the Joseph II, Emperor of Austria, restored the Lviv (Joseph’s) University with four faculties: philosophy, law, medicine and theology. Professional training of certified pharmacists was then carried out at the medical faculty, whose graduates compiled pharmacy legislation together with other disciplines.
From those times until today, pharmaceutical management disciplines were taught by masters of pharmacy, doctors of philosophy, candidates and doctors of pharmaceutical sciences, who selflessly worked in various departments, courses, and faculties.
The Organization and Economics of Pharmacy Department, as a separate structural unit, was created on September 19, 1964. During 60 years, it has undergone significant development and achievements. The teaching methodology has changed; the forms of the educational process have transformed. Graduates of higher education at the department were pharmacists, pharmacist-interns, and today – masters of pharmacy and doctors of philosophy.
Thanks to the hard work of the scientific and pedagogical staff generations, the department has significant scientific achievements: 8 dissertations for the Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree, 27 dissertations of the pharmaceutical sciences candidate and two dissertations of the Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 226 "Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy"; 127 non-periodical scientific and educational publications, namely: 98 scientific publications, including 38 monographs, 38 branch scientific and methodical recommendations, information sheets and innovations and 22 author's certificates, patents and rationalization proposals; 29 educational publications with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the university, including 10 textbooks and 19 tutorials.
The team of the Organization and Economics Pharmacy Department carries out the long-term scientific cooperation with specialized departments of domestic and foreign educational institutions, scientific and practical cooperation with domestic drug manufacturers and pharmacy chains and institutions.
We sincerely congratulate the staff of the Organization and Economics of Pharmacy Department on their anniversary and wish them happiness, health, and inspiration for a new scientific search.
Together to Victory! Glory to Ukraine!
