The aim of the work. The purpose of the study is to conduct research on the range of medicines with emollient and protective properties, and to analyze the segment of these drugs in the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market as of 2023.
Materials and Methods. To study this segment of medicines, the data from the State Register of Medicines of Ukraine, the Morion information search program and the ATC classification system of the electronic resource Compendium.online were used. The methods of structural, statistical and graphical analysis were used in the study, as well as their generalization and systematization.
Results and Discussion. It was found that the investigated medicinal products are represented in one anatomical group D02A «Drugs with softening and protective effects». The studies revealed that the active substance of the largest share of drugs is zinc preparations, their amount is 26 %, and petroleum jelly preparations, their mass fraction is 20 %. It is determined that 85 % of the market segment under study is occupied by domestic manufacturers with their own production facilities and extensive experience in the development and production of soft, solid and liquid dosage forms (ointments, pastes, liquids, solutions, powders). A study of the nomenclature of medicines with emollient and protective effects was conducted and it was found that the most common dosage forms are soft dosage forms, namely ointments 50 %, cream 9 %, and pastes 9 %.
Conclusions. The data obtained indicate that the development of protective medicinal products for topical use is relevant and aimed at protecting the skin from the effects of toxic substances, solutions of acids, alkalis, aggressive toxic factors and is aimed at solving the problem of dry skin (xerosis).
