The aim of the work. The study of the structure of foam in experimental samples in order to justify the rational composition of the foam base.
Materials and Methods. The objects of research were experimental samples of foam base with a number of modern surfactants of anionic, amphoteric and nonionic nature. The microscopic analysis of the foam was conducted using a “Konus-Akademy” laboratory microscope with the ScopeTek DCM510 eyepiece camera. For visualization of the images obtained the ScopePhoto™ software (version 3.0.12.498).
Results and Discussion. Foam – a coarse, highly concentrated system, in which the dispersed phase is the gas bubbles, and dispersion medium – liquid in the form of thin films. Foams as particulate systems have their own characteristics, which are determined by the properties of the disperse phase, dispersion medium, and the phase boundary between them such as: change in Gibbs free energy, interfacial tension, form bubbles (spherical, polyhedral). As is known, the structure of the foams is determined by the volume ratio of gas and liquid phases, and depending on this relation foam cell may have a spherical or polyhedral (polyhedral) form.
Conclusions. Using the microscopic analysis of foam of the developed samples, the choice of the optimal basis is substantiated (sodium laurelsulfate 5.0; magnesium laurelsulfate 5.0; cocamidopropyl betaine 2.5; cocoammonium diacetate 2.5; ethoxylated rapeseed amide 3.0; PEG-7 cocoate glyceryl / PEG-200 glyceryl; water purificate 100,0) with active pharmaceutical ingredients (α-lipoic acid, octopyrox and urea). When studying the structure of the foam array of the selected sample, it was found that the foam had a spherical shape of foam bubbles and was characterized by minimal surface energy. The data obtained indicate stability.
