The aim of the work. Investigation of the influence of excipients on the pharmaco-technological properties of powder masses with plant extracts and essential oil.
Materials and Methods. The composition of powder masses included active substances such as dry extract of Geranium sanguineum L. herbs, dry extract of Geranium sibiricum L. herbs and essential oil of Salvia sclare in the ratio – 3:1:1,2. 30 excipients were selected for the experiment. They were used to obtain tablets by direct compression. All of them were divided into 6 groups of 5 substances in each. The study of the influence of excipients on the pharmaco-technological properties of powder masses was carried out by determining the bulk density, density after shrinkage, flowability, the angle of natural slope (SPF 2 edition).
Results and Discussion. The results of the dispersion analysis of experimental data showed that the highest value of the free bulk density of powder masses with plant extracts and essential oil was obtained using basic magnesium carbonate, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) burst, sodium starch glycolate, ludipress, perlitol 500 DC, compactrol and sodium lauryl sulfate. At presence in the powder masses neusilin UFL 2, MCC burst, sodium starch glycolate, ludipress, MagGran and stearate acid the best indexes of density after shrinkage were obtained.
Basic magnesium carbonate, MCC burst, sodium carboxymethyl starch, ludipress, emcompress and calcium stearate is most positively affected on the flowability of powder masses.
The smallest value of the angle of natural slope of powder masses was obtained with the use of neusilin UFL 2, microcelac 100, MCC burst, pregelatinized starch, calcium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous and stearic acid.
Conclusions. The conducted studies allowed to determine the influence of 30 excipients on the basic pharmaco-technological parameters of powder masses with dry extracts herbs of Geranium sanguineum L. and Geranium sibiricum L., as well as essential oil of Salvia sclare.
