THE CULTURE OF SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE OF STUDENTS AND POSTGRADUATES FROM MEDICAL UNIVERSITIES

Abstract. The issue of academic language culture possesses significant theoretical and practical importance. The specific features of future professional activity and specialization within the context of the modern university are not sufficiently taken into account. Based on the example of higher medical education institutions, a number of issues requiring further study can be identified, as confirmed by the findings of national researchers: peculiarities of academic communication between teachers and students; adherence to ethical principles in professional interaction; systematic consideration of age-related and individual characteristics of discussion participants; exploration of the patterns of successful communication; specifics of interaction with ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) participants; communication features between representatives of different genders; effectiveness of professional oral speech; fundamentals of medical rhetoric; preparation of students and postgraduate students for conducting anamnesis; understanding of iatrogenic risks; foundations of the psychological culture of a scholar; utilization of the advantages of integrative thinking; appropriate use of artificial intelligence capabilities; and digital literacy of specialists. Almost every disease requires a specific form of interaction with patients. For instance, according to data from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, since the beginning of the year, stroke has been diagnosed in 96,000 patients, and in 2024 this condition affected more than 128,000 people of various ages. Proper prevention, continuous monitoring, and effective rehabilitation presuppose a high level of communication culture with patients and their family members. The reform of medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) and the growing prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, which is gradually becoming a mass phenomenon, further emphasize this need. Particular interest is sparked by the first Ukrainian master’s program in Language and Speech Therapy (LST) launched in 2025 at Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University. The issue of ensuring the quality of higher education and overcoming academic dishonesty in medical education also requires dedicated research. New admission requirements for postgraduate studies and stricter standards for dissertations necessitate longitudinal studies in the context of interdisciplinary collaboration among specialists from different departments during the professional development of young doctors. It is no coincidence that the text of the physician’s oath emphasizes the importance of empathy, warmth, and understanding.
