Distance learning has its advantages and disadvantages in terms of the convenience of the educational process for teachers and students, but modern realities of life require extensive use of this form of medical education at higher educational establishments in Ukraine. Distance education provides quality and comprehensive learning without interruption from daily activities, in the most convenient place and time, access to electronic knowledge bases, but also significantly increases the active role of students in the process of independent learning, and requires teachers to improve teaching both in content and. its form. Important advantages of distance learning in the field of higher medical education are wide coverage of the target audience, flexibility and the possibility of individualization of the educational program, the transparency and the possibility of independent evaluation. The main options available for distance learning are such traditional forms of educational training as lectures, practical classes, seminars, consultations that comply with current legislation. Distance learning technologies in the system of higher medical education should be constantly improved through the using of modern digital educational platforms, high-quality methodological content of web-resources, introduction of an effective quality control system to facilitate adaptation to new realities of educational process and to ensure high quality medical education.
