The article describes the concept of the linguistic picture of the world and the conceptual picture of the world as components of lingual didactics. The pragmatic approach as the leading one at the present stage of development of the foreign language teaching methodology and the results of its mastery involves the acquisition of certain competencies, which are specific language skills that allow for clear actions. However, in practice, the study of foreign languages cannot be limited to grammar and vocabulary, or applied skills; therefore, the need to form a “secondary linguistic personality” arises. This level implies mastering the background knowledge of a typical representative of a certain picture of the world whose language is being studied and provided by the formation of a social and cultural orientation as one of the essential components of successful language learning. A communicatively sufficient level of mastering a foreign language is achieved only by acquiring, at least at the initial level, the ability to perceive the environment through the prism of representatives of a foreign-language society. This skill is also necessary in the study of applied and fundamental disciplines, training in another country.
The conceptual picture of the world is traditionally regarded as similar to most people and deeper in content than the linguistic picture of the world, due to the limited capacity of language to express one’s thoughts. At the same time, the structure of the language determines the structure of thinking and the way we perceive the world around us. The close interaction of language and culture on the Ukrainian language classes as a foreign, foreign language for Ukrainian students can be considered within the framework of a linguistic-regional approach.
The analysis of the idea of conceptual and linguistic pictures of the world showed that considering the socio-cultural inaccuracy in the perception of the world can be realized through the use of linguacultural studies, which provides a number of defined criteria for the selection of educational material and the use of methods that not only state but put into context.
