PROFESSIONAL BURNOUT SYNDROME FORMATION IN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY TEACHERS

Abstract

The aim of the work – to reveal the problem of professional burnout syndrome (PBS) formation in teachers of domestic medical universities.

The main body. The results of PBS formation phases research were considered according to V. Boyko method taking into account, emphasized by authors, socio-demographic factors among teachers of surgical dentistry and maxillofacial surgery deparments of O. Bohomolets National Medical University, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University (33 persons) and doctors of surgical specialialty, who work at NMU clinical sites (22 persons). It was established that such symptoms as “self-dissatisfaction”, “anxiety”, “depression”, “experiencing psychophysical problems” prevail at the initial stages of PBS formation (“Exertion” phase). A vast majority of respondents – teachers point out “the reduction of professional duties” at the phase of “Resistance” and “emotional alienation” at the terminal phase “Exhaustion”. The most unfavourable socio-demographic factors, that influence PBS formation, were found improper nutrition, poor financial support, etc.

Conclusion. Teachers of medical universities, regardless their region of living, as well as practitioners are in a risk group of PBS formation, but its manifestations are shown more noticeable among teachers that points out the necessity of unfavourable factors elimination to the maximum and academic staff wellbeing correction.
