The aim: to assess the efficiency of implementation of ART services in Ternopil region for making recommendations for the development of regional HIV/AIDS control programs for 2019–2023. The ART coverage of PLHIV is not sufficient to have a positive impact on the HIV epidemic situation.
There is an increase in incidence and prevalence of HIV infection and AIDS in Ternopil region. Also, the extension of number new HIV positive cases in the age group of 15–24 years old and cases among the rural population was registered. There is a concentration stage of HIV infection with the activation of transmission by sex from IDU to general population. Mortality in patients with co-infection TB/HIV increases.
Measures should be taken to attract people to HIV testing, to introduce medical training about the basics of effective HIV counseling, to expand the network of organizations providing preventive services to key populations.
