Early diagnosis of side effects caused by anti-TB drugs, including toxic liver damage is essential in the treatment of patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis. We studied 62 cases of treatment in patients with newly diagnosed drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis. We analyzed hoe the effectiveness of treatment of such patients is affected by toxic liver damage during their hospital treatment. We determined that the number of toxic liver complications reaches its maximum after 2-5 months of therapy. In the group of patients who did not acquire toxic liver damage during their hospital stay, treatment indicators were better than in the group with such complications. Halting of bacteria expulsion was detected in 67.5 % vs. 54.8 % of the cases, and closing of necrotic cavities in 36.4 % vs. 27.8 % respectively. To improve the effectiveness of treatment of patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, the range of biochemical blood tests should expanded to diagnose functional disorders of the liver sooner. If toxic liver damage is suspected, the patient should be promptly prescribed effective hepatoprotective drugs.References
