OUR PREDECESSORS: ON THE HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES AT BOGOMOLETS NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract

SUMMARY. The article describes the formative years of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Bogomolets National Medical University, as well as the main directions of activity of its founders and first heads – F. Yanovskyi, A. Ziukov, B. Padalka, and O. Sokol. The gradual development of the department is outlined, reflecting the transformations in the socio-political life of the country and its healthcare system. The paper emphasizes the innovative achievements corresponding to each historical period, as well as the challenges and obstacles encountered along the way. Archival materials, documents, and recollections of the department’s heads from different years, colleagues, students, and staff members were used in the preparation of this work.
