SUMMARY. The article discusses a clinical case of a 7.5-month-old child with opercular herpes, who experienced vertical transmission of chickenpox from their sick mother. The risks for the fetus in case of pregnant women getting infected with the varicella-zoster virus at different stages of pregnancy are analyzed, along with the dynamics of opercular herpes symptoms in the child. The results of laboratory examinations are considered, including the determination of VZV antigens in the blister swab using direct immunofluorescence and serological testing of blood for the detection of IgM and IgG to VZV. These tests help confirm the diagnosis and determine the stage of the disease. Effective treatment is described, involving local treatment of the affected skin with antiseptic solutions and the application of herpesvir ointment, as well as patient monitoring in outpatient settings. The obtained results indicate successful recovery of the patient without complications, which is important for understanding potential improvements in the treatment of similar clinical cases.
