Abstract

SUMMARY. Aim – to describe a case of Ramsay-Hunt syndrome type 2 in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Highlight the features of differential diagnosis and the method of treatment of this syndrome.

After the appearance of vesicles on the skin, the dermatologist prescribed a Tzanck smear test (positive result was obtained). A diagnosis of pemphigus vulgaris was made and was prescribed a combined betamethasone treatment. The use of glucocorticosteroid caused a significant deterioration of the patient’s condition due to the immunosuppressive effect. Cancellation of GCS and usage of Valacyclovir led to healing of skin ulcers, reduction of symptoms of facial paresis and deafness.
