Abstract

SUMMARY. The article contains the composition of Ukrainian folklore, which reflect the ideas of our ancestors about infectious diseases, their prevention and treatment. The analysis of legends, incantations, proverbs and sayings, folk tales, and chumak`s songs makes it possible to assert that the Ukrainian people had a coherent mythological anthropomorphic worldview formed during its history. This worldview relatively satisfactorily explained the emergence and spread of infectious diseases. The collected and analyzed factual material of Ukrainian folklore about infectious diseases expands the history of their study in the early stages. Acquaintance of doctors and students with the given data will complement their professional knowledge.
