Abstract

SUMMARY. The article considers the problem of leptospirosis, which is one of the most common zoonotic diseases worldwide, characterised by a severe course and high mortality. In light of the threats posed by the war in Ukraine and the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, the risks of outbreaks of infectious diseases, including leptospirosis, have increased. The etiology, epidemiology, clinical course, treatment and prevention of the disease are described in detail. A clinical case of severe leptospirosis in a young patient caused by the pathogen of the Icterohaemorrhagiae serogroup is presented.
