Abstract

Brief historical information on achievements in the fight against rabies and the role of individual scientists in the study of its etiology, epidemiology, clinical and pathogenetic features and the development of specific post-contact prophylaxis using anti-rabies drugs are provided. 28 desktop medals minted in honor of outstanding scientists who first described this extremely dangerous disease or achieved fundamentally important successes in the fight against it have been studied and described. Among the galaxy of researchers, a special place is given to the brilliant French scientist Louis Pasteur, due to his creation of the first slave vaccine.
