The aim of the work: evaluation of results of laparoscopic cystectomy in a patient with recurrent hydatid cyst of the spleen.
Materials and Methods. Laparoscopic cystectomy was performed in 37-year-old female patient with a recurrent hydatid cyst measuring 6 cm, located in the upper pole of the spleen and partially inside the parenchyma. Four trocars were used: two 10-mm and two 5-mm. After aspiration of chitinous membranes with a 10 mm high-pressure suction tube, the cavity was drained by two drains, with complete closure of the fibrous capsule by stitches.
Results and Discussion. The duration of surgery was 100 minutes. The post-operative hospital stay was 4 days. At discharge, the reciprocal function of the drains was appropriate. After discharge, the cavity was washed by a solution of betadine 1:100 on a daily basis. There were no postoperative complications.
