N34S gene polymorphism pancreatic secretory trypsin inhibitor (spink1) in patients with different forms of acute pancreatitis

Abstract

There was studied the frequency of the mutation N34S of SPINK1 gene in patients with acute pancreatitis. It was found out that among patients with different forms of acute pancreatitis is more common presents N-allele, with fewer pathological SS-homozygotes. The development of edematous and necrotizing forms of acute pancreatitis is not associated with a specific genotype of the N34S polymorphism of SPINK1 gene. This suggests that the accumulation of mutation S-alleles is not associated with development of acute pancreatitis; that is not a direct initiating factor for its occurrence.
