The reasons of early and late post-traumatic complications were anayized in 35 patients with severe combined trauma. The development of infectious and septic complications, such as acute adult respiratory distress syndrome and nosocomial pneumonia, was found in 43 % of patients on 5–7 days after injury. It was accompanied by post-injury multiple organ failure in 12 % of cases. The development of septic complications was observed in 25 % of patients with dominant abdominal-skeletal injuries within 7–10 days after trauma. We also observed the development of post-traumatic meningoencephalitis in 15 % of patients with severe craniocerebral or spinal cord trauma. It is proved that early metabolic support for patients with multiple trauma in a set of intensive care just following hemodynamic stabilization, water and electrolyte balance and oxygen status recovery should be considered for prevention of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
