The aim of the work: to evaluate the long-term results of the use of Absorb biodegradable stent-platform in comparison with the use of metal stents in patients with coronary heart disease.
Materials and Methods. The data of two groups of patients with coronary heart disease who were treated at the clinic of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after O. O. Shalimov and underwent coronary artery stenting using the biodegradable stent platform (BDSP) Absorb (main group n=70) and metal stents (comparison group n=159) were studied in the period from 2012 to 2015.
Analysis of long-term results was carried out after 4–5 years (2018) and 7–8 years (2021). A positive result was considered the absence of major adverse cardiovascular events after stenting and the need for repeated revascularization. Evaluation of the results was carried out by analyzing electrocardiograms, ultrasound examination of the heart and catamnestic examination.
Results and Discussion. In both observation periods of 2012/13 and 2014/15, 4–5 years after BDSP, a positive result was noted in more than 75 % of patients. While after 2021 (7–8 years) this indicator decreased slightly, but remained at the level of 50 % of patients in whom no cardiovascular events were registered during this period. The indicated data confirm the claims of many studies regarding the sufficient effectiveness of the indicated system in the treatment of coronary occlusions.
