Retropubic prostatectomy with simultaneous peritoneal prosthetic hernioplasty in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and inguinal hernia

In order to study the indications for the simultaneous removal of inguinal hernia from the preperitoneal access when performing both simultaneous surgery and the main surgical stage of retropubic adenomectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia, 62 scientific works were analyzed on this issue of leading both native and foreign scientific for the recent 10 years. The scientists searched for Clinical guidelines for the key words “Combined inguinal hernia repair and transurethral resection of the prostate” and “Combined transurethral prostatectomy and inguinal hernioplasty” in such authoritative international evidence databases as: AHRQ Clinical Practice Guidelines; Clinical Evidence; Cochrane Library; Evidence-Based Medicine Guideline; National Guideline Clearinghouse; NHS Evidence/NICE Guidance; UpToDate, etc., where the influence of benign prostatic hyperplasia on the formation and recurrence of inguinal hernias of older men was proven. It was found that most authors support this technique and show good results in their works, namely: reducing the total number of days in the hospital, improving the quality of life of patients after surgery and avoiding another surgery. However, a number of problems were highlighted, such as: with which diameter of the hernia gate preperitoneal prosthetic hernioplasty is possible (up to 3 cm2 or more), volume of blood loss, whether there is an increase in wound infection, from which approaches it is better to perform this combined procedure as in open methods, and when using modern minimally invasive and robotic equipment. This dictates the need for targeted studies of clinical efficacy, safety and efficiency availability of simultaneous operations in combination inguinal hernias with benign prostatic hyperplasia in modern practical medicine.
