Abstract

The aim of the work. The study of international experience of social pharmacy formation and development.

Materials and Methods. The analysis of scientific publications and official university websites by means of system-analytical and retrospective analysis methods.

Results and Discussion. The article analyzed the basic stages of formation and development of social pharmacy, which first stages of conception occurred in the 1950s years of XX century in Europe and theUS. In the 1970–80 years of XX century there was reasoning for the implementation of social and behavioral aspects of pharmacy in the professional training of pharmacist at public and state levels in the US and UK. In the early 2000 the concept of social pharmacy was formed. In the late 1990s – in 2010's the social pharmacy as educational discipline, research area and concept are implemented in post-Soviet countries and inUkraine.

Conclusions. In general, the formation of social pharmacy is characterized by the reasoning need of implementation of social and behavioral sciences in educational programs of pharmacist, followed by inclusion of social pharmacy and related disciplines in the curriculum plans. Well as the creation of divisions (departments of universities) and the Center of Social Pharmacy that is prerequisite of social pharmacy concept and it’s the followed implementation in practice and functioning pharmaceutical sector of health care.
