The aim of the work. Study of the effect of vaginal suppositories "Melanizol" on the body of intact female rats with prolonged repeated vaginal administration.
Materials and Methods. The study of the toxicity of the vaginal suppositories "Melanizol" and their basis on the background of the introduction of sexually mature female rats was carried out for 30 days. The dynamics of animal body weight, clinical and biochemical blood parameters, and urine parameters were monitored. At the end of the experiment, a macroscopic study and evaluation of the mass coefficients of the internal organs were performed.
Results and Discussion. A study of the effect of vaginal suppositories "Melanizol" in a dose of 21 mg/kg (taking into account the amount of active substances) on healthy female rats in conditions of prolonged repeated vaginal administration (recommended administration). It was experimentally established that suppositories "Melanizol" in a conditionally therapeutic dose with prolonged vaginal administration to healthy female rats do not cause adversely affect on body weight, clinical blood counts, blood biochemical parameters, and urine indices of animals compared with the control group of animals. A study of the internal organs of animals proved that the organs were of the usual form without inflammation and changes. Mass coefficients of the internal organs of experimental animals did not have a significant difference between the indices of the studied and control groups of animals.
Conclusions. The data obtained as a result of the experiment indicate that in the studied dose, the vaginal suppositories "Melanizol" in a dose of 21 mg/kg do not cause a toxic effect on the body of healthy female rats and allow us to recommend of suppositories "Melanizol" for further study as a medicine for the treatment of vaginitis.
