The aim of the work. Comparative analysis of wholesale dispensing (the prices of the producer), purchasing (the prices of the wholesaler), and retail (the prices in the pharmacy) prices of medicines for glaucoma treatment.
Materials and Methods. The objects of the study were registered wholesale dispensing, purchasing, and retail prices of the medicines for glaucoma treatment. Comparison, systematization and generalization methods were used.
Results and discussion. 15 items of ophthalmic medicines, including three eye drops for glaucoma treatment (pilocarpine, timolol, latanoprost), were identified by the means of analysing of the National List of Essential Medicines. 14 mono and 13 combined positions of these medicines were identified in the register of wholesale dispensing prices. The comparison of registered wholesale dispensing prices of 14 mono products with the minimum and maximum values of purchasing and retail prices of these products was carried out. The price liquidity ratios were calculated. The registered wholesale dispensing prices of four medicines were higher than their maximum values of purchasing and retail prices. The liquidity ratio of retail price for 64% of medicines exceeded 0,15.
Conclusions. The peculiarities of pricing for mono medicines for glaucoma treatment, prices of which are subjected to state regulation, are established. Exorbitant registered wholesale dispensing prices for 4 medicines are indicated. The liquidity ratio value of the retail price for the most of the analysed medicines exceeds 0,15. This point out the insufficient influence of legislative regulators on the availability of medicines for glaucoma treatment.
