EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND PEDAGOGICAL VIEWS OF ARSEN RICHINSKY

Abstract. The article reveals the educational activities and pedagogical views of Arsen Vasylovich Richynsky (1892–1956) – a Ukrainian doctor, teacher, cultural figure and thinker, a representative of the intellectual elite of the first half of the 20th century, who combined medical practice with active public and educational work. Based on a historical and pedagogical analysis, the main directions of his activity in the field of Ukrainian schooling during the period of national revival of 1917–1920 are outlined. The role of Richynsky in the creation and teaching of Ukrainian studies courses, the training of pedagogical personnel, the development and publication of Ukrainian textbooks is highlighted, in particular, the «Course of Hygiene of the Science of Health», which became one of the first Ukrainian-language textbooks on hygiene. The scientist's pedagogical ideas regarding the content, forms and methods of teaching, his vision of the role of education as a means of national self-preservation are revealed. Arsen Richynskyi emphasized the need for a practical orientation of education, an individual approach to learning, and the humanization of the educational process. Particular attention is paid to his concept of national education, built on the native language, culture, and spiritual traditions of the Ukrainian people. The hygienic and socio-medical aspects of his pedagogical views are analyzed: the importance of school hygiene, disease prevention, and childhood protection. It is determined that Arsen Richynskyi's pedagogical and medical-educational ideas were ahead of their time and remain relevant in the context of modern medical and pedagogical education. His activities contributed to the formation of the Ukrainian national school, the development of medical-humanitarian thought, and the formation of the principles of an integrated approach to raising a healthy personality. A. Richynskyi's pedagogical concept remains relevant for modern Ukrainian education, in particular in the field of forming a culture of health, developing personality-oriented learning, and national-patriotic education.
