Abstract

The aim of the work – to determine the role of simulation education in the system of undergraduate doctor training on the basis of experience of the interdepartmental education and training centre of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University.

The main body. The modern stage of transformation puts new demands on doctors, and therefore requires the transformation of a higher medical institution. Despite the rapid development of electronics and computer technology, a doctor of any specialty is obliged to master the entire set of knowledge and skills that will allow him to choose the only correct diagnosis in a difficult case and perform adequate therapy measures. The optimal program of mastering the necessary professional skills should help him in this. This program is based on the widespread introduction of modern training complexes of a new generation, the development of basic training centers and it smoothly moves from imitation beyond the clinic to the real patient.

Simulation training significantly overcomes the gap between the theoretical training of a student and getting of their clinical experience in the system of higher medical education. At the same time, students have the opportunity to master practical skills gradually and implement clinical scenarios both virtual ones and while working in a team with simulation patients, which maximizes the effectiveness of training and reproduces the real working conditions of a specialist in the future.

An important role is played by a staff of education and training centre, i.e. by specially trained teacher-coordinators of different fields of education, as it allows to conduct research, experimentation in teaching technology with access to clinical and theoretical departments. Simulation technology develops clinical thinking at a high and motivated level in the training process of students.

Conclusions. Simulation-based training is one of the components of the educational process and provides a perfect practical training of doctors. Debriefing is a determining factor in the student’s introspection of their work in the simulation center and it stimulates the deepening of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
