Abstract

Abstract. The intellectual capital of a nation largely depends on the system for training young researchers. In recent years, Ukraine has begun reforming traditional institutions, revising the content, forms, and methods of education. If it were only about participating in research activities and writing dissertations, there would be no need for extensive discussions on this topic. The current level of technology, information support, and traditions of scientific schools allow these issues to be solved effectively enough. However, if scientific work is considered an essential element of successful professional activity, a factor of personal development, and the preparation of a new generation of European-level teachers ready to search for the patterns of the studied processes, the task becomes more complex. It is no coincidence that in December 2017, the experts of the Club of Rome named integral thinking as a priority task. The main form of training candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy degree at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education remains postgraduate studies (adjuncture), traditionally seen as a system of organizational, educational, and scientific support for preparing candidates in a higher education institution or research institution to master the educational and scientific program. The program includes comprehensive study of academic disciplines, completion of individual tasks, internships, control measures, conducting scientific research, writing scientific publications, presenting at conferences, and preparing and publicly defending the dissertation. The gradual transition to an information society, technological revolution, and the development of artificial intelligence are accompanied by crises at the level of the individual and the globalized world. The significance and responsibility of researchers for the results of scientific work are increasing. The third (educational-scientific/educational-creative) level requires modernization of higher education institutions. The importance of methodological aspects of scientific and pedagogical activities should be emphasized, which presupposes readiness for scientific and teaching work with obvious elements of self-improvement and understanding of the patterns of the educational process. Regulatory documents traditionally emphasize the importance of innovation and the decisive role of subjects of scientific activity. At the same time, the system of scientific and methodological support needs improvement. It is necessary to take into account the best practices of domestic scientific schools and the achievements of scientists from other countries. Issues of the personal development of postgraduates, improving the level of methodological culture, and the patterns of scientific creativity are of particular interest.
