Abstract. The article examines the significance of the practice-oriented approach in the educational process of training future physical therapists at higher education institutions. The key components of professional competence required for effective performance in the field of physical therapy are analyzed, particularly in the context of healthcare reform in Ukraine and the implementation of modern rehabilitation standards. The study emphasizes the role of interdisciplinary integration, simulationbased learning, clinical practice, and reflective approaches in developing practical skills and readiness for independent clinical decision-making. The need to enhance cooperation between universities and clinical settings is highlighted to support students’ continuous professional development. Additionally, the paper discusses the main challenges and prospects of implementing practice-oriented teaching methods in higher education, including the adaptation to digital formats and remote learning technologies. It is argued that the integration of a practice-oriented approach facilitates the development of not only technical skills but also critical thinking, communication abilities, and the capacity to make evidence-based decisions in clinical contexts.
