Abstract

The article deals with the three-year internship programme in obstetrics and gynaecology, introduced in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 1219 in 2022. The effectiveness of this programme in preparing young specialists for independent professional practice is analysed. The programme includes both full-time and part-time elements of training, integration of simulation training, and the use of distance learning technologies. In particular, the article emphasises the importance of practical skills that interns practice on obstetric phantoms and in simulation centres, which allows them to bring the learning process as close as possible to real-life conditions. The article also describes the methods of assessing competences, from “A” to “D”, and their impact on the formation of internsʼ professional readiness. The results of the study emphasise the importance of constantly updating curricula in accordance with modern requirements and the dynamic nature of medical science. It is stated that the modified internship programme promotes the development of critical thinking, independence in decision-making and professional growth of future obstetricians and gynaecologists, preparing them for the challenges of modern medical practice.
