OBJECTIVE STRUCTURED CLINICAL EXAMINATION AS AN INDICATOR OF STUDENTS’ PRACTICAL TRAINING

Abstract

The article examines the use of an objective structured clinical examination (hereinafter referred to as the OSCE) as an important indicator of the level of students’ practical training at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The peculiarities of conducting this type of exam in various years of study, specialties and at various training programs are discussed. OSCE in this context is considered as an admission to the semester final control test, as a form of final control during the defence of internships, as well as one of the elements of students’ certification. The analysed forms of final assessment, with the OSCE as their constituent, allow to fully ensure the control of level of students’ practical training in accordance with the training program and educational standards. On the basis of data analysis, appropriate conclusions were made regarding the rationality of using this method of monitoring practical training.

Wide implementation of OSCE in the educational process will ensure quality control of the results of learning and practical training.
