FORMATION OF PATRIOTIC VALUES IN HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS OF MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION OF UKRAINE IN TODAY’S CONDITIONS

Abstract

The article examines the topical issues of the formation of patriotic values among students of higher education at medical institutions of higher education of Ukraine in todayʼs conditions. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that the formation of patriotic values in students of higher education in medical institutions of higher education in modern conditions is important for the maintenance of national identity and the development of society. It was found that the researched process needs a comprehensive approach. The author singled out such patriotic values as: civic consciousness and responsibility; professional morals and ethics; humanism and social responsibility; readiness for service and humility; respect for history and culture; tolerance and understanding of other cultures. A number of problems and difficulties inherent in the formation of patriotic values among students of higher education at medical institutions of higher education of Ukraine have been identified: a change in value orientations; processes of globalization and social changes; lack of proper national-patriotic educational process in educational institutions. The main strategies that must be used for the formation of patriotic values in students of higher education at medical universities in todayʼs conditions are highlighted: the educational process; patriotic practice; psychological health support; mentorship and example of teachers; information work; stimulation of civic activity; formation of ethical values; stimulation of self-improvement. It has been established that patriotic values play an important role in the professional development of a future health worker for several key reasons: duty to the community; promoting the health of the nation; ethics and professional conduct; public activity and responsibility. It was concluded that the formation of patriotic values in students of higher education of medical institutions of higher education of Ukraine is extremely important, because in the future they may find themselves in situations where their professional knowledge and values will become key for successful medical practice and interaction with patients, as well as for creating a positive national image and support for the development of society as a whole.
