The medical case history is an important document that is filled out for each hospitalized patient, which has legal and financial significance. The aim of our work was to analyze student medical case histories, to determine the peculiarities of writing medical case histories in todayʼs conditions and possible ways to optimize this direction of studentsʼ studies. Results and conclusions. The peculiarities of writing a student medical case history in todayʼs conditions are the limited communication between the student and the patient, the absence of a single unified classical scheme. The development of updated methodological recommendations for writing the medical case history of a surgical patient with an indication and brief description of the main sections and the use of modern protocols for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of a surgical patient will provide an opportunity to improve the level of studentsʼ understanding of the correct scheme of writing educational medical documentation.
