Abstract. The article proposes a system of tasks for studying the topic “Professional communication between a doctorand a patient in the pulmonology and ENT departments” as a part of the elective course “Professional medical communication between a doctor and a patient” in institutions of higher medical education. It has been emphasized that the development of educational and methodological support for the formation of professional Ukrainian-language competence of foreign-language students of higher education is a relevant direction of modern linguistic and didactic research. The recommended set of exercises is aimed at expanding professional vocabulary, teaching how to use learned vocabulary in monologue and dialogic speech in accordance with the norms of the Ukrainian literary language, and developing situationally conditioned professional speech skills. The proposed material corresponds to communicative and professionally oriented approaches to learning a foreign language and has been tested by teachers of the Department of Ukrainian Language of І. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University.
