Abstract

Abstract. The article outlines the main aspects of the formation among higher education students specialty 227 “Therapy and rehabilitationˮ of awareness of different approaches in the work of specialists with individuals who have post-traumatic stress disorder. It is noted that this involves a holistic, multidimensional, interdisciplinary awareness of the post-traumatic stress disorder essence, its mechanisms and consequences, as well as an awareness of the own competence and the colleagues’ competence limits who can be involved in a multidisciplinary team in the process of working with individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder or provide assistance independently according to the needs of the patient/client.

The specialist approaches of various specialties, which are used within the main directions of work with individuals who have post-traumatic stress disorder, have been determined. Attention is drawn to the fact that the preventive direction is based on the methodological approaches of hygiene as a science and on the principle of increasing the personal resilience. Pharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches aimed at limiting the action of the stress factor and reducing the level of stress reaction are highlighted within the therapeutic direction of working with individuals who have post-traumatic stress disorder. It was found that the concept of elimination of the psychosocial consequences of patient maladaptation is at the heart of the rehabilitation direction. It is noted that the cooperation of specialists involved in working with individuals who have post-traumatic stress disorder should be based on the biopsychosocial model, systemic, competence-based, integrated and multidisciplinary approaches. Specialists’ awareness of the limits and specifics of their own activities and the colleagues’ activities in the process of working with individuals who have post-traumatic stress disorder ensures an effective division of responsibilities, where each specialist is responsible for his or her part of the work.
