Abstract

Abstract. Simulation learning in medical education is the most important tool that provides an opportunity to simulate processes, clinical circumstances and other aspects of the professional activity of specialists in the field of medicine. This modern method of training and assessment of practical skills, abilities and knowledge is based on realistic modeling, simulation of the clinical situation in artificially created conditions that are close to reality. The main form of simulation learning is simulation training for development of clinical thinking, provision an opportunity to assess the level of achieved skill objectively and an unlimited number of repetitions, helping to reduce stress during the first attempts to practice skills. The article is devoted to highlighting the structure, organization and conducting of the simulation training “Psychological First Aid in Crisis Situations” for medical education seekers. The training has been developed at the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of the Dnipro State Medical University (DSMU) to acquire knowledge and master the skills of Psychological First Aid (PFA) in various crisis situations. The authorʼs approach has been applied to the development of simulation training. Based on the materials of the simulation training, a cycle of video trainings on PFA in crisis situations has been created, which contains 7 videos that fully correspond to the topic of the simulation training.

Thus, in war conditions, the creation of a simulation training “Psychological first aid in crisis situations” is timely, because for medical workers it is extremely important to learn the skills of not only practical professional activity, but also effective stress management and improvement of stress resistance. The prospects are to hold the simulation training of mastering the practical PFA skills in the Educational and Training Center of Simulation Medicine of DSMU for doctors, as well as for all institution employees.
