Abstract

The problem of high-quality presentation of educational content using online methods became especially acute in 2020, when all areas of teaching and learning were forced to switch to the online format. Now, in 2022, in connection with the forced transition to distance learning during martial law in Ukraine, the problem of improving and developing new online learning methods and modifying existing methods has arisen. The purpose of this article was to analyzeand highlight the main advantages and disadvantages of distance learning based on my own experience of its implementation. Using the example of various information and communication technologies, such advantages were highlighted as: increasing the accessibility of medical education regardless of conditions, optimizing the work of the department through the introduction of modern methods and international experience, accelerating the pace of development of the telecommunications component of scientific and technical progress, new vectors for the development of telemedicine. However, regardless of this, medical students prefer a blended learning approach, which is associated with the face-to-face part of the educational program and a number of disadvantages, including technological and infrastructural barriers, as well as the lack of personal interaction. In order to optimize the experience we have gained and the possibility of its integration into the practical activities of other educational institutions, we recommend expanding the spectrum of professional development of teachers to the proper level and investing as much as possible in future teaching/learning strategies.
