PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION OF A PEDIATRICIAN WITH A CHILD AND HIS PARENTS: GUIDELINES OF A PRACTICAL FOR A TEACHER

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of educational and guidelines of the optional discipline “Professional Medical Communication of the doctor with the patient in Ukrainian” for students of the third year of study in specialty 222 “Medicine”. The study is based on the acquired knowledge of Ukrainian as a foreign language and provides for the communicative needs of students in educational, professional and educational-scientific spheres, lays the foundations of professional language of physicians with the prospect of their further use in professional activities.

It has been presented the guidelines of the practical “Professional Communication of a Pediatrician with a Child and His Parents” for teachers of higher medical institutions. The course is structured in accordance with the requirements for practical classes in higher medical educational establishments and adapted to the communicative needs of foreign students. The structure of the lesson contains five stages: updating of basic knowledge, working with the text, learning new material, performing training exercises, current control. The content corresponds to the curriculum of the discipline, so it includes complaints of a child (his parents) with diseases of various systems and organs; children’s diseases; objective examination; preliminary diagnosis.

The developed system of exercises acquaints students with vocabulary for children’s infectious diseases; teaches to implement communicative intentions in situations related to the main points of collecting family history (questioning parents), develops the ability to collect life history of a child of early and old age, practices communication skills of a pediatrician with a child (child parents) who has complaints one of the body’s systems. Attention is paid to the grammatical aspects of the communicative minimum required for oral and written professionally oriented communication in the Ukrainian language.
