Successful mastering of competencies during training in the discipline of “pathological physiology” contributes to the formation of a highly qualified doctor, because it forms the skills of clinical thinking, analysis, communication, deduction and others necessary for the work of a doctor of any specialty. In fact, that pathological physiology is “opening the door” for students to the concepts of “disease”, “etiology”, “pathogenesis”, forming general basic knowledge about various diseases of systems and organs.
Independent work of students is important for the formation of self-education skills. This is critical to being competitive and fitting to modern requirements. Therefore, a doctor must constantly improve his skills, supplement his knowledge with new data, and develops new preventive and therapeutic measures.
Attracting students to a scientific society is an important link in training, because under the guidance of a teacher, a student masters elaborate medical literature, writing scientific articles, reports at society meetings, participates in experimental research carried out according to the planned department research work. All this together creates original and conceptual medical thinking, critical understanding of problems.
The competence-based approach was taken into training program developing in pathological physiology for masters of medicine and introduced into lectures, practical classes and independent work of students.
