MENTORSHIP IN THE POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION SYSTEM OF A DOCTOR

The aim of the work – to define the components of the method of training and professional development “Mentorship” which can be used in postgraduate education of a doctor and provides practical recommendations.
The main body. Professional formation of a young specialist is an important stage in his socialization. Mentoring is one of the common methods of developing professional skills and qualities. Mentorship in medicine is proven to be useful for personal growth, professional development, building of self-confidence and communication skills, job satisfaction, and career planning. Existing programs of postgraduate education are narrow-minded and do not foresee many aspects of the specialists training. Method of mentorship does not have a clear organizational, legal and economic basis. For many years, it is often used spontaneously and informally in internship. Postgraduate education, unfortunately, ceases to perform a social function. For successful training and formation of a young doctor special resources are needed to enable psychological and socio-pedagogical support-tutoring. In practice, this trend is experiencing a lack of resources and incentives. In the article the analyzes of conditions for application is conducted, the components are defined and the main advantages and disadvantages of the method of mentoring are formulated.
Conclusion. Organization of mentoring will bring the system of postgraduate education to a new level of quality and facilitate quick professional adaptation of young specialists, reduce gap that currently exists between higher educational institutions and the health care system.
