Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Authors who submit a manuscript paper to the journal “Medical education” should confirm its compliance with all established requirements specified above. In the case of non-compliance of submitted items the editorial board will return materials to the authors for correcting:

    1. This article was not previously published and sent the editors of other journals (or necessary explanations are given in the comments for editor).

    2. File is the *.doc or *.rtf. document.

    3. Internet links in the text come amid full correct URLs.

    4. The text is typed with Times New Roman font 14 pt and 1,5 lines; author’s emphasis are typed in italics rather than underlining (everywhere except URL addresses); all illustrations, charts and tables are placed directly in the text where they should be on the content (not the end of the document).

    5. The text conforms to the style and bibliography set out in the Guidelines for Authors section “About us”.

    6. If the material is submitted to one of reviewed sections of the journal, the submission instructions according to Guarantees blind review were carried.

Author Guidelines

General requirements

  1. Article should be written in Ukrainian or English language on the one side of A4 size paper (1800-2000 graphic characters on the page). Margins: top and bottom –2,5 cm, left –3 cm, right –1,5 cm. Typeface: Тіmes New Roman14 pt, spacing 1,5. The digital exemplar of the article in the form of *.doc or *.rtf should be registered in OJS system on the web-page of the journal (htpp://ojs.tdmu.edu.ua).
  2. Pictures/ figures must have JPG, TIF, CDR format and should be sent as printed (in two copies) and as the separate image file with resolution 300 dрі.
  3. Tables should have short titles and own numbering. Playing the same material in the form of tables and figures are not allowed.
  4. Diagrams, graphs should be created in Microsoft Excel. Small illustrations can be placed in a text body.
  5. It is preferable to use equation editor Microsoft Equation for formulas.
  6. Article size, including tables, figures, references, summary should not exceed 8 pages, review article – 12 pages, massage, review – 5 pages.
  7. The article must be recommended for publishing by the institution and signed by the head of an institution. Expert evidence must be added to the article. All documents should be authenticated by the seal. Sign of each author of the articles is compulsory below the text. Surname, name, academic degree, academic title, place of employment, job position, e-mail of each author and surname, name, address, e-mail, phone number and fax of author for correspondence must be put apart.
  8. All measure signs (measurement units, numerical data) should be put according to International System of Units.
  9. Editorial staff corrects spelling, punctuation and stylistic mistakes, removes unnecessary images, and shortens the text if needed.
  10. Articles which fail to meet the requirements will be sent back to be fixed. Subscribers’ articles and material ordered by the editor will be published on a first-priority basis.
  11. The author is solely responsible for the accuracy of data presented in the article and references.
  12. Attention to authors! Articles published in our journal are assigned by DOI (Digital object identifier) – universal digital object identifier system CrossRef. CrossRef members currently are 5 000 publishers from all over the world. Its citation database covers more than 75 million journal articles and other types of scientific publications. The presence of DOI identifier in the article enables a quick its search in the Internet (for citation) without the need for a long search it on the websites of journals. DOI assigning to scientific articles allows an increasing of citation index and the rating of its authors. The presence of DOI index in every article and issue of the journal in particular contributes towards its promotion to the international scientometric databases.
  13. Article publication requires payment. Total cost is calculated depending on characters number. DOI assignment should be paid separately. The exact amount of payment and bank account details will be sent after reviewing.

Plagiarism

By submitting articles to our journal the author attest the following:

None of the parts of the manuscript is plagiarized from other sources.
Proper reference is provided for all contents extracted from other sources.
Strong action will be taken against cases of plagiarism.

Article structure

1. The constituent elements of the article should be placed in the following orders:

UDC

Initials and surnames of authors

Name of institution, city

Article title (capital letters)

Initials and surnames of the authors in English

Full name of the institution, city in English

Article title (capital letters) in English

Summary (in Ukrainian and English), size should not exceed 250 words (1500 symbols), about 0.5 page. The summary must be structured and contain the aim of the study, the main body, social impact (if such exists), originality and conclusions.

Key words in the Ukrainian and English languages (not less than three and not more than eight words).

Introduction (Problem definition, its connections with important scientific and practical tasks, analysis of the last published researches aiming at solving of this problem, emphasizing the unsolved part of general issue, which is the word devoted to).

Aim of the study.

The main body. (Factual material, research results verification, full substantiation of the obtained scientific results, expressing of the own opinion regarding the obtained results, its comparison with interpretation of similar data presented by other authors)

Conclusions.

Reference (printing the literature sources in square brackets in the same order as mentioned in the article) is formed in two blocks: traditional and additional for international database (references)

2. The above mentioned article structure must be both in electronic and printed versions of publication. Printed and electronic versions must be absolutely identical.

Requirements for the reference list   

  1. Literature sources are formed in accordance with DSTU GOST 7.1:2006.
  2. 2.      Percentage ratio of self-citation – not more than 30 % that is, if you use 10 references the number of your own works must not exceed 3.

Requirements for the additional reference list (REFERENCES)

  1. If a scientific work is written in language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet, its bibliographic description should be transliterated in Latin letters, and structured as follows:

-          surname(s) and initial(s) of the author (transliteration);

-          year of publication in parentheses;

-          transliterated publication title, title in English in square brackets;

-          transliterated source title (journal, conference) than dash and its title in English;

-          dateline (place of publication, pages) in English leaving the name of publishing house transliterated.

In the end of bibliographic description it is necessary to add [in Ukrainian] or [in Russian] respectively.

  1. Transliteration of author’s surnames depending on the language of the original source is carried out according to Resolution of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of January 27, 2010 No. 55 “On regulation of Ukrainian alphabet transliteration in Latin” (for Ukrainian) or requirements of BGN/PCGN  system (for Russian).
  2. It is advisable to use a system of automatic transliteration:

– http://ru.translit.net/?account=zagranpasport (Russian transliteration ). 

Reference list should be presented according to APA Style (developed by «Manual of the American Psychological Association», 6th ed. (Washington,DC: APA, 2010)). For example:

Author (s). (Date).Name (co-authors). Publication information (title of journal, volume, number, pages).

One author – Halych, M. L. (year of publication). Title. Publication information.

Two authors – Halych, M. L. & Ivchenko, P. S. (year of publication). Title. Publication information.
