The aim of the work – to analyze forms and methods of extracurricular work of students which are used at the Department of Pharmacology, for improvement of the educational process and formation deep knowledge of pharmacology and ability to self-education and self-improvement in the future medical professionals.
The main body. In this article we presented the organization of extracurricular work of students at the Department of Pharmacology of M. Pyrohov Vinnytsia National Medical University. It is conducted in three main directions: learning-compulsory, learning-research and scientific-research and includes traditional and non-traditional types and forms. The most important component is the initiative creative activity of students. An independent work is conducted with the support of teachers, that is why the means of didactic support for independent work are created and constantly updated at the department (methodical recommendations for preparation for practical lessons and for independent extracurricular work, multimedia presentations of lectures, a manual “Pharmacology. Summary of lectures”, educational pharmacy, sets of test tasks, pharmacotherapeutic and situational tasks of standard and non-standard type, criteria for evaluation of all types of independent work). Such an approach to organizing independent extracurricular work of students allows developing future competence doctors necessary for the proper formation of their professional culture.
Conclusion. Extracurricular work of students as an important tool and the most complex form of organization of the educational process requires a modern material and technical base, appropriate theoretical, psychological-pedagogical and scientific-methodological support, a constant search for new effective forms, methods and means of teaching.
