Abstract

The aim of the work – to analyze the efficiency of students’ work at the university simulation center in acquiring their practical skills in emergency medicine and the prospects for introducing new, modern virtual training programs for students and internists.

The main body. An important link in the educational process is the creation of a modern educational and methodological base: appropriate methodical documentation has been prepared such as manual and textbook on emergency and urgent care was published in the form of a printed article, explaining the foundations of organization and provision of emergency medical care by the ambulance brigades in their daily activities with the use of modern clinical protocols. In 2017 and 2018 the staff of the department arranged and issued two manuals “Urgent and Emergency Medical Care in Questions and Answers” in Ukrainian and English.

Classes pass through the system of a single day of study, which allows during the seminar session to conduct a written assessment of the entrance level of knowledge and practically work the student on mastering by given scenario for solving situational tasks involving dummies, tools and other available medical equipment identical to the ambulance carriage.

A peculiar qualitative transitional stage in the students’ learning process at the Department of Urgent and Emergency Medical Care was the conduct of practical and seminar sessions at the university simulation and training center. Student simulation is a type of training session where a teacher forms the practical skills of applying the acquired theoretical knowledge by individually executing tasks, determining the general tactics, diagnosing and treating simulated patients in a simulated emergency situation. The level of theoretical and practical training of students (and teachers) was greatly improved due to the introduction of simulative virtual European self-control programs (Body Interact) for the first time in Ukraine in the educational process.

Especially important moment of practical classes is the possibility of attracting students to departures as part of the emergency medical teams ambulance and organizing and conducting annual regional competitions of ambulance teams, in which teachers act as judges, and students of the circle are pawnbrokers. At the end of the competition, the department staff conducts analysis of the brigade performances at each competition in the form of a scientific and practical conference.

Conclusions. The educational process at the Department of Urgent and Emergency Medical Care on the basis of the single school day system enables the introduction of training elements of simulation and training of practical skills. Students’ departures on the challenges of the brigade of emergency (emergency) medical care substantially motivate the professional orientation and increase the level of mastering the discipline. The high methodological level of the educational process at the department, the presence of a university training center for simulation training in adapted European virtual training programs allows you to provide a high final level of mastering their theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
