Abstract

The aim of the work – to identify the characteristics of a student’s subjectivity in the study of foreign vocabulary whereas language learning also depends on the position of the activity or inactivity of the person, ie his subjectivity.

The main body. The article investigates the characteristics of the subjective position of students in the study of foreign vocabulary at higher education institution. The author presents the factors that influence the development of student subjectivity, age and social characteristics of students, specific training activities at universities, subjective position of teachers.

Conclusion. It has been proven that cognitive activity or subjectivity of students is one of the components of foreign vocabulary learning at the university, as reflected in the ability to be a strategist of the activity, set and adjust goals, understand the motives to build their own actions and assess their compliance plan.
