ANXIETY IN THE CONTEXT OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCES FORMATION IN FUTURE MEDICAL WORKERS DURING THEIR UNDERGRADUATE STADY IN THE CONDITIONS OF WAR

Abstract

Abstract. The article examines the problem of long-term and high-intensity stress and the resulting anxiety impact on the formation of professional competences in students of medical educational institutions of Ukraine in the conditions of war. Data from the scientific literature on the causes, structure and level of students’ anxiety in peacetime are given in comparison with the data obtained after the beginning of full-scale military operations. The main manifestations and consequences of excessive anxiety, aspects of its influence on the educational process and on the formation of students’ professional competences are analyzed. Attention is also paid to the mechanisms of adaptation to the educational environment in the context of the negative impact of anxiety. It is shown that even in peacetime, the anxiety level of some students was excessively high, which used to disrupt the mechanisms of their adaptation to the educational environment. With the beginning of a full-scale war, according to research results, the anxiety level of students increased significantly, which has negatively affected both their psycho-emotional state, adaptation capabilities, and professional training, in particular, in terms of communicative competence formation. The given data indicate the need for a more in-depth study of the anxiety impact on the formation of professional competencies in students of medical educational institutions in order to develop a strategy to overcome the negative impact of stress on the educational process in the existing conditions. Students' acquisition of professional competencies should include training in both communication skills and stress resistance and the ability to control one's own emotional states, to use the effective koping-strategies, to restore one's own psychcal resources, etc.
