THE PROCESS OF FORMING A IDENTITY OF FOREIGN MEDICAL STUDENTS, IN CONTEXT OF THE SUCCESSFUL LEARNING OF THE SECOND LANGUAGE

The relevance of the chosen research topic lies in the need to identify and describe the factors that influence the formation of a positive identity of future foreign medical specialists. The problem of identity formation is considered by the authors through the prism of learning a foreign language by foreign students. The article examines the relationship and differences in the processes of learning the first and second languages by individuals. The authors highlight and analyse the stages (barriers) that foreign students need to overcome in the process of learning a language as a foreign language. It is proved that success in learning a second language directly affects the successful formation of a positive identity of a foreign student. The article describes the factors that influence the success of learning a second language, which also affect the formation of a positive identity of foreigners. The researchers have identified 4 main factors influencing the effective acquisition of a language as a foreign language: intelligence, attitude, motivation, and anxiety. The authors of the article prove the role of the cognitive component in the process of learning a second language. The author emphasises the dependence of intelligence and motivation on the type of tasks and goals set for foreign students. The concept of motivation is considered and its role in the process of learning a foreign language in higher education institutions is described. The concept of motivational orientations is characterised, the types of orientations are considered. The motivational process based on the individual's affective attitude to the foreign language community is analysed. The antagonistic components of the motivational process are described. The attitude factor that determines the success in learning a language as a foreign language is singled out and described. It is emphasised that the formation of a positive identity of a foreign student is influenced by the sense of self-identification, the ethnolinguistic theory is described. The anxiety factor is described as one of the correlates of successful second language acquisition. The role of the teacher in the process of forming a positive identity of a future foreign specialist is emphasised. Effective pedagogical and psychological methods that will contribute to the formation of a positive identity of a foreign student are proposed.
